PCORI Fees Last Installment

Applies to: Self-Insured Health Plans, including HRAs & FSAs Employers who sponsor self-insured health plans must pay their annual Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) fees by July 31. PCORI fees are reported and paid annually using IRS Form 720 (Quarterly Federal Excise Tax Return). Effective on October 9, 2018, New York State and New York City legislators passed a number of new initiatives for sexual harassment prevention laws in response to the #MeToo Movement and increased allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace. House Passes Enhanced HSA Bills

In late July the House of Representatives adopted two healthcare bills that, among other things, allow for more flexibility surrounding how healthcare consumers can spend their savings for medical related expenses, including expanding how Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) may be used and increasing the maximum contribution limits to these accounts. The bills, H.R. 6199 and H.R. 6311, expand tax-advantage health care accounts, inclusive of HSAs, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs). NJ Becomes Second State to Adopt Individual Mandate

On Wednesday, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law a bill that will require all New Jersey residents to have health coverage or pay a penalty. NJ is the second state in the country to adopt an individual health insurance mandate. NJ lawmakers feared that, with the decision to repeal the federal mandate established under the Affordable Care Act, healthier people would leave the state’s Obamacare market which would cause premiums to spike.
